She has also attended courses at various art schools and community colleges. In 2008 and 2009 Clare won the disability Art Prize North Sydney and was awarded the Bloomn’ Arts Prize which extends to her the opportunity to be mentored at Sydney University School of Art. The art is a response to her surroundings, the things she sees, research on animals, all coming together in an expressive and imaginative way. Spontaneity is the key to her work where the images flow with lyrical fun, often showing adorable naïve characters that play on the canvas.
She learnt etching, printmaking, and mixed media. Clare is a prolific painter and loves to share her work in the form of canvases, cards and images which are used on business cards, bags and clothing. Clare’s artistic expression is a continuous stream of aiming to understand her relationships and surroundings, in particular animals, people and places. Her paintings reflect the elements of her thoughts, moods and flows of energy through her choice of images, colours, shapes and brush strokes.
